This city…

So the COOLEST thing ever happened to me the other day while I was walking from work to the metro station. While I was walking with two of my co-workers at Amnesty International we walked by one of the house buildings and guess who came out….John McCain!!! He walked right by me, we almost brushed shoulders! It was so cool! He is very short in real life!

Other than seeing Senator McCain – nothing that exciting has been going on. Most of my time has been spent running around at work so I have been incredibly busy at my internship.

This weekend has been very fun as well. We celebrated my friends birthday this Friday night which was really fun. All of the people in the program got together and celebrated.

I am really looking forward to going to Boston for the Annual General Meeting and am busy preparing for that. I’ll make sure to write all about it after its done.

Sorry its been so long

As you probably realize it has been a very long time since I last blogged about my D.C. adventures. That is because every second of my time has been busy…which is awesome! I love being busy!

At my internship things are really just being finalized for the annual general meeting (which I have been planning for the last 2 months). It is next weekend…which is soooo soon! I will be flying out to Boston on Thursday morning and will be there until Sunday evening (when the meeting is over). It is going to be a very busy next few weeks. After the meeting, my sister will be coming into town for the weekend. Then I have the NAFAC conference the following week. (Navel Academy of Foreign Affairs). It is a really unique opportunity to discuss prevelent foreign affair issues as well as an opportunity to network.

Otherwise my time has been spent enjoying the wonderful Spring weather that we have been having for the past few days! It is absolutely gorgeous outside!

Spring Break? How about no.

I do not have a spring break- which is very strange. I have had spring breaks for the past 14 years…. until now. No break this semester. Oh well- I guess “real adults” don’t have spring breaks anyway.

This week has been incredibly busy.  It has been extremely hectic. The meeting is less then two weeks away so everything is coming down to the wire. I have been finalizing all of the details for the meeting so most of my time at work has been consumed with getting those details done. I even went in on Friday (my day off) to get work done.  I really like being busy, it makes the day go by quicker and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

During the weekend, we went to the National Zoo. It was really really crowded with lots of families because the weather was so beautiful this weekend.  The zoo was fun, especially the really cute pandas. Other than that it was pretty quiet around here- just enjoying the lovely weather we have had for the past two days.

Alright I am over this snow situation

Seriously, why in the name of everything that is holy is it snowing outside? Apparently it is supposed to snow all day tomorrow. And there is a strong tradition of work being canceled on such snowy days. In fact it is in the 20’s today and tomorrow. My jaw is on the floor. All I wanted was some warm weather….COME ON!!

Alright, I’m done venting. Aside from this awful weather….life is pretty good. My internship as usual is extremely busy. The Annual General Meeting is just 26 days away. I’m so excited for the meeting and it makes the days at work go by very quickly.

After class on Friday one of my best friends from high school came to visit me for the weekend! We had an extremely eventful weekend. On Saturday we went to this really nice farmers market. They were selling a ton of crafts and art by local artists. From the farmers market we walked to the Botanical Gardens (right by the capital building) and walked around. The gardens were absolutely beautiful. We took a ton of pictures. After the gardens we wanted to go the spy museum (yes spy museum) in China Town but we didn’t have enough time. We did however walk around the gift shop and saw lots of fun stuff that they sell there. I am going to have to go back some time and actually walk around the museum.

The upcoming week is spring break for UB- I don’t get a spring break…but we do have a three day weekend this weekend…which is awesome!! Maybe we’ll try for the Spy Museum this weekend.
