Do not fall alseep on the metro. you will miss your stop

Well D.C. is just as fabulous as it was last week. My internship at Amnesty is great. My supervisor has already given me a lot of work to do and its all really interesting stuff. I am not just sitting around on facebook like some of the other interns on my program. That is important if you are spending a semester doing an internship. You don’t want to be stuck photo copying stuff all day so make sure to do your research before applying for internships.

This past weekend was a lot of fun. Class was canceled on Friday so a few of my friends and I went into the city for the day and went sight seeing. It was  a really nice warm day so we walked around to the Washington Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial. We were all exhausted by the end of the day but still found enough energy to go out exploring Adams-Morgan at night time. Just a quick PSA be very careful in that neighborhood please. It is one of my good friends birthday’s (who happens to be in the program as well) so we made him dinner tonight and hung out here at the apartment. It is a lot of fun.

This week is going to be pretty busy and I am so excited for the super bowl this weekend. Obviously I will have to cheer for the Steelers but that does not mean I am turning my back on the Browns. Thats it for now. I’ll keep you guys updated. Miss you Buffalo!

I don’t know if you know this but…its really cold outside

Now I may have no reason to complain because there is no snow on the ground here but its pretty cold here! Like we are talkin’ 20 degrees or so. From what I’ve heard in Buffalo its even colder there. My friends have been telling me that even stepping outside is torture.  I was waiting for the shuttle to come pick me up from the metro station this afternoon and I almost froze to death. It was so cold!! I could barely feel my fingers! Eeep!

But aside from the cold everything is going really well! I still haven’t started my internship but I have been keeping myself busy. Today I went exploring again. I found the office that I will be working in. Its a few stops behind the capital building. And there is a Dunkin Donuts and a Starbucks right at the Metro stop!!!

Well otherwise things are pretty quiet. Just getting very excited about the inauguration and stuff along those lines! The city of D.C. is expecting tons and tons of people so it should be awesome.

It has been way too long!

So sorry I haven’t blogged in forever and a day.  It has been a crazy winter break. It was an amazing vacation. There is nothing like sitting back and relaxing- not having to worry about a thing. But unfortunately break is over. And rather than going back to Buffalo I am typing this from an apartment in Alexandria, VA. Yes thats right, I am in D.C.!!! Woot Woot!!! I am doing my internship with Amnesty International helping to plan the annual general meeting so it should be an amazing experience. The apartment I am living in is pretty tiny, especially because there are five us in a four person apartment. Other than that Alexandria is great. It has everything, including a Starbucks on every corner.

Today a few of us went into D.C. and went exploring. We went all over the mall, we even stopped in the Aerospace museum. It is so nice to live in a city where people can take the train all over the place. My internship is right off the metro so I only have to walk a short distance.

Tomorrow is an orientation day and I don’t start my internship until the following week. I am really excited. I’ll keep you guys updated.
