September 2008 Archive

rainy tuesday

College students are known for their ability to wait until the last minute to do things and yet they get everything done by the time its due. Even if it means getting no sleep.

I unfortunately never inherited the ability to stay up all night. Thats why today was spent studying and catching up on the work that I had to do.  It was my catch up day…and I finally cleaned my room…which was compeltely necessary because I haven’t seen my floor in like a week.

Other than that things have been pretty quiet. Just steadily studying for all the exams I have coming up. October is going to be  a busy month with all of the stuff I have going on during the weekends. Oh and the countdown to my birthday has offically begun….25 days.

Just an FYI

I must sound like a broken record but I cannot stress this enough. Time FLYS while you are in college. Today I was reflecting with one of my best friends since freshman year. We were talking about only yesterday we can remember moving in and it seems like we spun around the room four times and its already a good portion into our first semester of Junior year. Craziness. I am glad that I have times like these to reflect back and think about what an amazing experience I have had so far.

This week is gonna be a toughy. I have to buckle down and study for Human Rights and Womens studies that just so happen to be on the same day, one right after another. The good thing though is that both classes kind of overlap with some of the material so I almost renforcing what I already know by studying each one.

Tomorrow classes are canceled because it is Rosh Hashana. Its going to  be my catch up day…there is a lot of random stuff I have to get done. I also have to study a lot more. I have finally discovered that studying a week before the test is much better than studying the day before the test.

Thats about it for now. Peace.

Home for the weekend.

hey everybody

I am writing from my kitchen at home right now. The 3 hour drive from Buff wasn’t too bad and it was a great opportunity to practice my car singing. I came home this weekend to see the Fam. Its really nice to be home and away from the stresses of school and stuff. It will also be really nice to sleep until noon and not feel like I am forgetting to do something.

On the other hand I am  a little bummed because I’ll be missing a lot of cool stuff at school this weekend. Friday night ( tonight) is a debate between Carl Rove and General Wesley Clark. Tickets are free for UB students. I am also really really mad because I’ll be missing Fall Fest which is Saturday night. Ludacris and Nas are performing along with a lot of classic old school rappers. Its gonna be supa fly.

Well otherwise, I’ll be busy this weekend hanging with the fam and eating until I explode. lata.

its almost october…say wwwwwhat?

Like the title says…I am absolutely shocked that its almost October. Which is the best month ever…cause its my birthday month.

Outside of that little rant-life has been busy as usual. Lots of work. The next week is when of course all of my tests start to happen so its time to get down to business. I’m pretty excited for this weekend because I’ll be going home to see the fam.  Its been a good month since I’ve been back to Clev. so it’ll be nice to be on the old stomping ground. Even my sister will be home for the mini reunion.

I can’t say that there is much going on other than working my way through papers and reading. The downside to being in the upper level courses is that all of my professors love to assign papers at the same time. I guess it keeps you focused because you are forced to start working on them early.

Classssssesssss…..

Hey Everyone!

Its been a great few days. Busy as usual!! Most of my time has been spent in classes or at work in the office of admissions. I’m not complaining or anything…..but  it makes the weekend a very exciting prospect (ie sleeping in).

Nothing really too exciting has been going on. This past weekend was the awesome football game!! We totally kicked some booty! We played against Temple. Now, I wouldn’t call myself the football expert, in fact I’m not really sure how to play the game, but the game on Saturday was AWESOME! The weekend was pretty quiet other wise. My roomate just got the show Jon and Kate Plus Eight, so Sunday we had  a marathon.

Classes are now just getting really busy. I have a big paper due in my American Politics in the Media. Its a really great class because there is a lot of debate that happens within the class. I really like being in classes that focus on my major because I feel more connected to the information we are learning.

Well thats about it for now!!!!

I mean…I guess it fall now?

So, unfortunately the summer is slowly coming to an end….the weather is getting colder…I think I even saw some leaves changing color. Sigh.

Other than that I’ve had a super busy week followed by a great weekend. Classes have been going really well lately. I’ve had a lot of reading to do for all of my classes, which sometimes is a drag. However, I’ve found that the majority of reading I’ve had to do for my classes pertain to everything we talk about the next day in class so its important to be up on the subject matter. I’ve found that when it comes to the upper level courses you actually have to participate which goes back to why it is very important to read for classes and actually know what you are talking about.

This weekend was really fun. Saturday during the day, my friend and I went to Syracuse to visit her little brother. It  was fun to see other college campus and see how it is to be a freshman again. The campus is really different than UB, but I think I prefer the way UB buildings are connected. I cannot picture walking outside in the dead of winter in Syracuse. We then went to a football game which was really fun.  Otherwise things have been pretty great!

Tonight is the first mock trial practice which will be very interesting. Thats about it for now!!! Lata!
