Which came first…the chicken or the buffalo wing?

Hey Everybody!!!

Where to start….

I don’t think I can express in words how busy my weekend has been so far. Friday night was really fun. The Student Association had a Welcome Back bash which was a great time. It was a free event for all UB students at a nightclub called Level. Everyone was dancing the whole night!

Every city has their signature food. In Cleveland we have something called Skyline Chili which is a layer of spaghetti, piled high with chili and toped with enough cheese to cause any lactose intolerant person to cry. So, I don’t know if you guys know this about Buffalo, but aside from Hockey and Tim Horton’s, these people LOVE chicken wings. That being said, this weekend is the annual Chicken Wing Fest. Of course my friends and I are going tomorrow to sample all of the local wing-tacular awesomeness that is the Wing Fest. The Wing Fest is an annual tradition that takes place in downtown Buffalo and basically consists of sampling wings from a bunch of different Buffalo area restaurants. I don’t know what it is about this town but they love to eat here, especially wings. You cant watch a Sabres game or order a pizza without having wings and a refreshing “pop” to wash it all down.* Needless to say, I cannot wait to spend my afternoon stuffing my face with hot and delicious wings. Another wonderful benefit of this city is that you don’t have to drive into downtown Buffalo because there is a subway that will take you from south campus all the way down to the center of downtown Buffalo, so basically we don’t even have to drive to the wing fest!

That’s all for now, the next time I write I’ll probably be like 50 pounds heavier from all of the wings I’ve eaten.

* I call it soda (they call it pop in Buffalo)

The New School Year

Hey Guys!

The school year has finally started! Its really weird to think that the summer is already over. It completely flew by. I mean one second I was outside watching fire works for fourth of july and the next second I’m standing in line buying my books for the new school year. Classes have been going really well. Its always a bit confusing the first week of school, getting used to the new schedule and stuff like that. Otherwise I’m really enjoying my classes. All of the classes are for my major so all of the material that we are learning is really interesting to me. The only downside side is that one of my favorite classes, Human Rights is at 8 o’clock. Now I am the opposite of a morning person so morning classes are not my thing but so far I haven’t fallen alseep in the middle of class. That may have something to do with the Tim Hortons* coffee I buy in the morning but we wont put the blame on anybody.

Tonight is the first football game against UTEP…which I am really excited about. I love going to a division one school because everyone is really into our sports teams.  Before the game is a big picnic/pep rally that happens every year. Not only is there free food (my fav!!!) but the band All Time Low will be performing before the game. It should be a pretty fun night!

It’s great to be back in school and have all of these fun activities going on. I am looking forward to the weekend when I can sleep in and just relax with my friends.

Well thats about it for now. I’ll let you know how the weekend goes!

* Tim Hortons is a chain resturant that sells coffee and donuts. It trumps Dunkin Donuts.
