I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it, but this semester I’m enrolled in the History of Paris. I chose this class because a few semesters ago I took Early Modern British history with Claire Schen. Learning British history made me realized how tied up their history is with France. I promised myself that I’d take a French history class at UB and that’s how I found myself in History of Paris with Professor Vardi.
Today was our last class, and I have to say I’m a bit sad that it’s over. I feel like I’ve learned so much, but as I felt in Early Modern British history, I didn’t learn enough. I almost think that maybe I should have double majored in history and English so I could have taken more classes.
Even though class is over I have the new Les Miserables movie to look forward to! I have a copy of Les Miserables that I read in high school but I think that’ll be the first book I tackle after exams. I want the book version fresh in my mind when I see the movie. Hopefully all the hype about the movie is true, and it’s just as amazing as they say it will be. Historical movies are always so much more fun when you know the context. Christmas can’t come soon enough!
