Hats off!

Congratulations to all of the graduates that are being handed their diploma’s and really kick into high gear their plans for post-graduation (but of course not before they enjoy those grad parties!)!

I got to go back home to Clifton Park for a quick visit for a wedding. The wedding was absolutely beautiful! It was a pink and black color scheme and our church that we grew up in looked just gorgeous. It was nice to stop home, even if it was only for a quick visit. Sometimes it’s hard to be the only one that isn’t living at home anymore. My siblings have all these new things that they do with my parents, from taking walks to new tv shows that they watch. I just have to get use to being a few hours from home instead of right upstairs in my room. I’m heading back in two weeks for another visit so I’m excited for that!

But for now I have to go wrap my own graduation present because I have a grad party of my own to go to. It’s down in Glenville, south of Buffalo, so I’m just worried about driving around there on my own! :-/ Wish me luck!

Sweet Summertime

And the summer is here! I know we’ve been absent for a bit, they were doing some re-working of our website, but never fear! We have returned! My summer so far has been chock FULL of some exciting stuff; I feel like I haven’t had that much time to sit an enjoy the beautiful weather that Mother Nature is finally giving Western New York!

One of the more interesting things that I’ve done is participated in the Buffalo City Gay Pride Parade. It was an amazing experience! To see all of those people come out and support the gay/lesbian community was really cool and I think it meant a lot to those friends of mine who we were walking with. Here are some pictures:

Another thing that has taken up a lot of my time this summer is trying to decide what to do with the rest of my life (sounds like a simple task-it’s not). For the past three years I have had my heart set on getting my Master’s in Social Work and recently started thinking about doing the joint program that UB offers which is a Master’s in Social Work as well as a Law degree. But after some advice from some people that I really respect I started seriously considering Higher Education. After talking with about anyone that would listen to me and having a couple of really intense conversations with the people that know me the best I have decided to take it one step at a time and get my Master’s in Social Work right out of college, at least that’s my decision for now. It’s weird to start thinking about all of these things again. It’s been four years since I’ve had to think about school applications and recommendations and GPA requirements. I feel like I’m a senior in high school all over again! So I can totally relate to all you graduating juniors who are starting to look at colleges and gather the paperwork neccesary to apply. It’s not an easy task!

I get to go home this weekend for a wedding. One of my old babysitters is getting married, wow, even that’s weird to say! Gosh, everyone says that these four years blow by you, but I guess you don’t really listen to them until you’re actually staring back on it…
